|NOTE: Some internet sites have erroneously recorded Jacob Nester, b 1761, as a son of Frederick Nester, b 1709, but there
is not a shred of evidence for this. Many of his descendants think he may be the son of Johann Gottfried Nester/Nestler,
who was listed on a ship passenger list in 1773. This possibility is close to the family tradition that Jacob's father returned
to Germany when Jacob was about 8 years old, and never returned, but not exactly, as Jacob was age 12 in 1773. Also a
couple of Jacob's childrens' baptismal records record the last name as Nestler. This Jacob Nester lived in the
Randolph/Tucker Co area of Va (WVa). Jacob entered the RW from Berks Co, Pa, and that may have fueled speculation
that he was Frederick's son. One internet site has recorded Johann Gottfried Nester as a son of Frederick, which is very
speculative and without evidence, but not impossible. There is no record of Johann Gottfried Nester/Nestler in America
after 1773. If he had been shown to be living near Jacob later, then this theory would have a little weight. Likewise, if the
name Gottfried (Godfrey in English) had been used by Jacob's descendants, this would be another piece of evidence, but not
Carl Kenneth Nestor (dec) authored a book on this family: "Descendants of Jacob Nester 1761 - 1844", 3rd edition, Apr
