.                            4.   YakimaHerald.com, 26 Aug 2014:  Ila Mae (Nestor, Vaughan, Taylor) Peel, 101, of Yakima, passed from this earthly
.                                   home to her home in eternity with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 23, 2014. She was born April 25, 1913
.                                   in Spanishburg, West Virginia to Thomas P. & Aldora “Dora” (Duncan) Nestor.  At the age of 20, Mom married
.                                  .James Vaughan. They were blessed with a daughter in May of 1933, Mary A. Vaughan. Mom worked hard to sup-
.                                   port her family at the shirt factory in Radford, Virginia. In the early 1940’s, Mom contracted TB and spent almost 2
.                                   years recuperating in a sanitarium.  In 1944, she and daughter Mary came out west to Grandview, WA to live with
.                                   family. There she helped raise her cousin George Shockley and his sisters Bea, Maxine and Irene. Eventually they
.                                   moved to Yakima where she met Charles E. Taylor. Charlie courted her on horseback, riding from the Taylor Ranch
.                                   (east of Moxee) to the little berg called the Ahtanum Valley. They married and took care of Grandma Taylor until her
.                                   death. In 1949, they were on their way to the hospital and Dad started to stop to do some hunting and Mom said
.                                 “NO, we are having a baby!!” So, on they went and they had a daughter, Carla Lea Taylor. A few years later Dad had a
.                                   brain tumor which debilitated him so Mom cared for him until he passed away in 1956.  To support herself and Carla,
.                                   Mom worked at the local fruit warehouse (Big Y) in Ahtanum and also worked at other fruit warehouses around the
.                                   valley until she retired. In the early 1960’s Mom had a long distance romance with her future husband Frank W. Peel.
.                                   He lived in Jonesboro, LA and traveled to Washington to pick fruit each year in the fall. They were matched up by his
.                                   daughter Trudy (Peel) Stephens and Mom’s daughter Mary (Vaughan) Green, and they married and were planning a
.                                   life together but too soon Daddy Peel had a massive heart attack and passed away on election day in 1964.  Ila is
.                                   survived by 2 daughters, Mary Green and Carla (Bill) Woolen of Yakima, step-son Michael Peel of Baton Rouge, LA,
.                                   3 grandsons, Rusty (Cecilia) Camino of Seattle, Brandon Woolen of Yakima and Eric (Pat) Woolen of Florida, 4 great
.                                   grandsons, John F. Green (Seattle), Brysen & Braeden Woolen of Yakima and Lucas Camino of Seattle, and a cousin,
.                                   George P. Shockley, who was more of a brother than a cousin.  Mom was preceded in death by her parents, brothers
.                                   Denny, Hobert, Oscar, L.B. and Tony Nester, son-in-law Francis B. Green and grandson Jerry P. Green.  The family
.                                   would like to express our deepest heartfelt appreciation to Harmony House, Ponderosa and Memorial Hospital.
.                                   Thank you, Cora, Pam and staff for your care of Mom for the last 22 months of her life, you took great care of her
.                                   with love and that meant the world to us. Thank you Ponderosa staff for caring for Mom while she was in your care,
.                                   she really enjoyed living there. Thank you also to the staff at Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion during
.                                   this difficult time.  There will be a graveside service Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Terrace Heights
